Gratitude is the Best Attitude!

Many of us who have watched The Secret movie were impressed by the story about the man who picked up a rock and began carrying it with him to remind himself everyday of the things he had to be grateful for. William Arthur Ward, one of Americas most quoted writers of inspirational sayings, said this, “Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.”

A gratitude rock is a small rock that you carry with you in your pocket or purse. Its sole purpose is to remind you to be grateful whenever you touch it or look at it. The greatest benefit we receive from carrying a gratitude rock is a change of attitude. This small token rock, helps us to see the glass as half full, we become optimists and instead of focusing on what we don’t have, we become grateful for what we do have, and for what is on its way. Someone once said, “You won’t get what you want until you learn to be grateful for what you already have.”

Something wonderful happens to us when we carry a gratitude rock! We know that many people have discovered this to be true and we have experienced it in our own lives. Gratitude was the inspiration behind Message Rocks and the foundation upon which we have built our business.

About Our Rocks
These beautiful, ocean-smoothed rocks have been individually hand picked for their shape and size and perfection. Only one rock out of a hundred examined will make it to the final selection.

After selection, these naturally beautiful rocks are cleaned and after close inspection we determine whether to leave it in its natural finish or to bring it to a high luster finish with our vibratory polisher. To achieve this beautiful glossy finish takes about a week.

The rock is now like a canvas. Our art and design department have created beautiful designs; full of meaning and symbolism. Each rock is studied to determine which message would look the best on it. Each letter of a word or phrase and artistic emblem has been individually styled so that it will etch perfectly when it is engraved on your rock. We view each rock as a one-of-a-kind art piece. Craftsmanship is very important to us.

When the right match between rock and saying is determined, a stencil on film is produced.

The finished stencil is carefully fixed to the rock and is then sent to the stone engraving artisans. Using state-of-the-art sandblasting equipment the inspiring messages and/or symbol are then perfectly engraved into the rock. We do not paint or stain our engravings because paint or stain is temporary; instead we prefer to allow the elegant, long-lasting beauty of the engraving speak for itself.

When you look at your rock or the one you have selected as a gift for someone else — we hope you realize how unique it is. These are not tumbled rocks purchased by the ton from China nor mass produced somewhere in Asia. Each rock has been hand picked, personally prepared and artistically rendered to become something special in the hands and heart of its new owner.
